FURever Home Friday :)

Do you remember last week's post about our sweet and adorable friend Vine, who found herself back at PAWS after many years? Well guess what? The day after our post went live, Vine was officially adopted!
According to Vine's new mom, she has settled right in.  Check out these pictures of Vine and her new human brother. Their proximity and body language show they have become close and fast buddies. (note: we were asked to crop out Vine's brother's face for privacy reasons.)
Vine's new family just happens to be good friends with our fellow PAWS volunteer Maria, so we've already gotten a heartwarming report. Maria spoke with Vine's mom, and says that, "Vine is doing great!  She is exploring the whole house, and she especially enjoys watching the sun rise from her perch on the back of the couch.  When she jumped onto the piano keys with the top shut, and then looked at the top of the piano where there were pictures and other fragile items, her mom said, 'No Vine.' And Vine just jumped down! They are just thrilled with her; she has acclimated herself so well to their family."

Do you remember handsome, smiley-faced Andrew (aka Hobo)? He found his very own forever home, too!

Here's the full list of recent PAWS graduates!

And finally, here are two more happy tails (tales) that came in this week...

Bastet (I renamed her Bella) rules her new home! She uses her litterbox and seems okay with her food (vet has placed her on a weight-loss diet and she is down about a pound). Bella has had her vaccine updates; she visits the vet once a month for her weigh-in and to get her claws trimmed. She is a great cat and we adore her. Thank you!
Bella, looking very comfortable and happy
In a few weeks Davey will mark two years with us so I thought you would like to see how he’s doing. Davey is a joy. He remains full of mischief, something that appears to be part of his personality rather than simply what was kitten behavior. He is sweet and funny and, as ever, very playful. Miki and Davey are best buddies snuggling together or being close by each other.  It is so sweet.

Davey and Miki are BFFs!
Have a great weekend, everybody! :)

A Special Someone's Birthday!

What "it" is, is our mom’s birthday!  Happy birthday, Mom Tracey!

We all think you’re the best cat mom in the whole wide world, and we love you with all of our hearts! Thank you for loving us so much, for all you do for us and so many others, and for just being you.

Even though you have to go to work today, we hope you have a great day. And when you and Dad get home, we should all celebrate with extra snacks! We’ll even share with you! MOL.

Love,

Moosey, Gracie and Zoe (with a little help from Dad meowmeowmans)

Easy Like Selfie Sunday - Ryker

This week's Sunday Selfies Blog Hop* and Easy Like Sunday duties are being handled by our handsome and adoptable friend, Ryker. Here's his selfie (check out those awesome whiskers, cool eyes and dramatic face markings!):

Posing for selfies is apparently very tiring. Here's the part when Ryker dismissed the pawparazzi and settled in for his Sunday easy. Ha.

Happy Sunday, everybody.

* The Sunday Selfies Blog Hop is sponsored by our pals at The Cat on My Head. Be sure to visit, and check out this week's other participants. :)

A friend comes back

A few weeks back, Tracey and I were checking out some of the newest PAWS cats. On one of the intake cages was a card that read, "Vine." I looked in, and gasped when I realized that the cute, round-faced adult kitty looking back at me was an old, dear friend who had been one of the first cats ever featured on our blog (back in January 2009).

Vine always had the sweetest, most loving disposition, and we never forgot this snuggly girl, even after she was adopted.  When we opened the cage door, it was pretty evident she remembered us, too.  And that she still had the same amazing personality.  She popped right up and repeatedly rubbed her face against mine, all the while kneading her cat bed and purring away. :)

We found out that Vine came back to PAWS through no fault of her own. Sadly, her human became ill, and is no longer able to keep her. We can tell Vine's human loved her a lot, and took good care of her.  And even though she's now a senior kitty (13 years old), it's clear she still has so much love to give, and so much life to live.  Vine is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, micro-chipped, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.  Won't you please consider giving this beautiful lovebug the new forever home she wants and deserves?

Happy St. CATrick's Day! :)

May joy and peace surround you,
Contentment latch your door,
And happiness be with you now,
And bless you evermore.

Happy St. CATrick's Day, everybuddy!

Easy Like Sunday Selfie - Truffle :)

Check out these easy selfie photos of our beautiful and adoptable friend Truffle...
We love when she turns her head upside down like this.
And she sure looks cute when she's sleeping.
Happy Sunday, everyone.

We're taking part in the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop, hosted by our close friends at The Cat on My Head. Be sure to check out who else is doing the easy today! :)

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Thor

He may have the same name as the Norse god of Thunder, but our handsome pal Thor is one of the nicest, most gentle mancats we've ever met.

Look at that face!

And check out those white-gloved paws! :)

Thor is neutered, micro-chipped and up-to date on all his vaccinations.  He has tested positive for FIV (the feline immunodeficiency virus), but please don't let that stop you from adopting this all-around good guy.  According to Best Friends, "...FIV-positive cats can live normal lives both in quality and duration," even though "...they do take special care in terms of monitoring them for signs of infection..."  Come meet the mighty Thor, and fall in love! :)

Be sure to check out who else is participating this week in the

Easy Like Selfie Sunday

As we've done a few times before, we've decided to have a fun little mash-up of two of our favorite Sunday memes -- "Easy Like Sunday" and "Sunday Selfies Blog Hop (sponsored by our pals at The Cat on My Head)."  Getting things started with a Sunday Selfie is gorgeous and snuggly torbi cat Stormy...

This super gentle ladycat is about 4 years old. Found as a stray, she is friendly, gets along well with other cats, loves people, and would be a wonderful addition to any family. Stormy is spayed, microchipped, up to date on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.  Oh, and as you can see, she takes a terrific selfie. :)

Stormy's roommate Mimi also has some serious selfie skills...

Mimi is a little shy, but she is friendly and loves to play. She gets along well with other kitties, and enjoys the company of people she knows. We're sure she'll blossom when she finds her forever home. Mimi is spayed, microchipped, up to date on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

And now for the EASY part of today's post. Here's beautiful Naomi, catching a few Zs in the PAWS kitchen. We certainly think she has the right idea. We also hope you all have the chance to follow her example sometime today. :)
Naomi is about 3 years old. The adjustment to life at the shelter has been a bit tough for this ladycat, but she is starting to find her confidence. She would probably do well in a quieter home, with humans who will be patient and kind with her. Naomi is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations. She is negative for FIV and FeLV.

Stormy, Mimi and Naomi (and lots of other amazing and adoptable cats) are waiting at PAWS to find their very own happily ever afters.  Have a great Sunday!

BlogPaws Nose-to-Nose Awards Finalists! :)

It's true, Moosey! The finalists for the BlogPaws 2015 Nose-to-Nose Awards were announced on Wednesday night, and Animal Shelter Volunteer Life has been named one of the “final four” in the "Best Cause Blog" category!

For the uninitiated, the BlogPaws Nose-to-Nose Pet Blogging and Social Media Awards are the only pet industry awards wherein pet bloggers and micro-bloggers are judged on the expertise, performance, and creativity of the entry. Each category is judged by a distinguished panel of professionals (not by popular vote), and this year, the 48 finalists in 12 categories were chosen from more than 1,000 entries. Winners will be revealed in an exclusive red-carpet ceremony at BlogPaws Annual Conference, taking place in May, in Nashville, Tennessee.

What an honor (and shock) to be included among so many incredible bloggers we deeply respect and admire (and many of whom are good friends). Thank you to those who nominated us, to the judging panel, and to BlogPaws. And HUGE thanks to all of YOU, for sharing in our lives, for being our friends and for believing in us!

Congratulations to all of the finalists, including our fellow Best Cause Blog category finalists:

Deaf Dogs Rock
Conservation Cub Club
Shelter Cats *

* Shelter Cats is the awesome blog of our friend and fellow shelter volunteer, Maggie! Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that two of the four “Best Cause Blog” finalists would be about the wonderful adoptable PAWS cats. :)

Dr. Seuss Day 2015!

Happy birthday, Dr. Seuss! Today is Dr. Seuss Day, and fans around the world are celebrating the birthday of this famous author and illustrator who touched the lives of so many.  As is the case every year, many members of the pet blogging community are joining in the fun by taking part in the "Dr. Seuss Day Challenge."  As you can see, Moosey, Gracie and Zoe have dressed up for the celebration...

And here's one of our favorite Dr. Seuss quotes, which talks about how caring deeply is the first step towards making a difference in the world around us.

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."

Easy Like Selfie Sunday

At the shelter, Sundays are an opportunity to do a little relaxamicating in preparation for the long week ahead.  Leading this week's snoozefest is Sparky, who's caught himself a glorious sunpuddle...

Here are (top to bottom) Daphne, Hoppity and Patch, going vertical with their Zs...

And Julia and Chip, demonstrating the bunk bed approach to napping...

Of course, Sundays are also a great day for sharing selfies.  We're participating in the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop, sponsored by our pals at The Cat on My Head. Mom Janet and the Kitties Blue sponsor PAWS resident Swizzle every month, and lo and behold ... here's a Swizzle selfie!

And one from smart and silly housepanther Elmer...

All of the adorable cats shown above are available for adoption at PAWS of Norwalk, CT. Come and meet them (and all of their friends) today!
